A delegation from the Research Center for Applied Sciences, Academia Sinica, Taiwan (RCAS) visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on November 9, 2011.  The delegation has had academic exchanges with the professors of UM-SJTU Joint Institute (JI), the Department of Physics, and the Research Institute of Micro and Nano Science and Technology.
Robert Parker, Deputy Dean of JI gave the opening address.  RCAS is described as a diversified center which includes four research groups, Nanobiotechnology, Mechanics and Engineering Science, Optoelectonic and Advanced Materials, Advanced Computation and Modeling, directed by Dr. Yia-Chung Chang.  Assistant Prof. Tian Yang gave a brief introduction of JI.
Director Yia-Chung Chang, Vice Director Peilin Chen, Dr. Min-Hsiung Shih and Dr. Chun-Wei Pao from RCAS gave presentations on their research fields as well as JI Assistant Prof. Jigang Wu, Assistant Prof. Wenjie Wan, Associate Prof Benjamin Yellen and Assistant Prof. Tian Yang.
Prof. Wenzhong Shen from the Department of Physics, and Prof. Shouwu Guo and Researcher Guangxia Shen from the Research Institute of Micro and Nano Science and Technology respectively gave presentations.  The delegation then toured three selected laboratories and a cleanroom at the Research Institute of Micro and Nano Science and Technology.
