On April 7, 2012, six JI students, led by Cooperation and Career Guidance Officer Candice Liu, attended a seminar organized by 5imeet, a reputable career consulting service, to learn about the career experience of some successful entrepreneurs.

In the seminar, Mr. Guo Daquan,  who had been a top manager with many Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, Motorola, and Ford Motor Company,  and Mr. Yin Junlin, the founder of  5imeet, shared with the students their experience in working in  foreign companies and their strategies to stand out in the fierce competition.

Students were actively engaged and asked many questions. They were impressed by the speakers’ emphasis on “Be true to yourself”, which means to understand oneself and to have the courage to face oneself: One should have the guts to follow one’s interest and talent in choosing a career, instead of settling down with an unsuitable job. Students were also advised to be careful in blogging or leaving any footprints on the web, which will haunt them in the future if they are traced by potential employers.
At the end of the seminar, students all expressed that they have benefited greatly from the speakers’ rich experience and have learned how to listen to one’s heart in this confusing world.
