The JI welcomed 30 energetic high school students from Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) on June 24, 2013 for a special Campus Visit Day.

The day started with a warm welcome from Dr. Gang Zheng, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, and an informative presentation by Yu Zhang, JI’s International Recruitment Coordinator.
Following the opening was a chance for WISS students to experience what it is like at JI by participating in some class activities. They got to launch projectiles using lever machines designed by JI students, and they marveled at how various robots, also created by JI students, traveled along a 3-meter suspended rope. JI faculty members Roberto Dugnani and Mian Li as well as JI students were present to interact with the visiting studetns during this session.

The scheduled campus tour was cancelled due to the rain. Nevertheless, WISS students enjoyed the campus view on their walk to a dining hall where they ate lunch as part of their life-at-JI experience. During the Q&A, they asked many questions and got detailed answers.
The first Campus Visit Day organized by the International Recruitment Office was a success. The nasty weather did not dampen the students’ enthusiasm. From the well-orchestrated hands-on activities they have learned about JI while having fun. Many have shown interest in studying at JI in the future.
