This year JI ushered in 74 international students from 21 countries including the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Holland, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Pakistan, Singapore, Madagascar, and Tunisia.
84% of the graduates will continue graduate study at famous foreign and domestic universities; those who chose employment will join Huawei, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Intel, Microsoft, China Mobile, etc.
More than 90 innovative projects are from JI’s summer experimental courses such as “Introduction to Engineering,” “Design and Manufacturing 3,” “System Design and Implementation,” and “Undergraduate Research Project.”
The rich colorful program held on July 20th at SJTU showed the graduates’ gratitude to teachers and best wishes to their classmates.
JI alumnus Hai Huang, 28, co-founder and CEO of Asset Pro is one of the honorees in the category of Finance & Venture Capital, following Shaolong Sui who was selected in the 2016 “30 Under 30 Asia” list of business leaders.
The 38th Odyssey of the Mind (OM) World Finals were held at Michigan State University on May 24 – 27. The SJTU team, led by JI students, emerged from 850 teams from around the world and won the world championship in the college category.
A delegation led by Alec Gallimore, Dean of Engineering at the UM, visited JI on May 27th to promote further research collaboration and to prepare the new dual-degree students.
A Delegation of the UM’s Ross School of Business led by Dean Scott DeRue visited the Joint Institute on May 25th, promoting the Michigan Ross Master of Management – Shanghai Cohort Program and the Automotive Executive Development Program (EDP).
Professor Chien-Pin Chen, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, has been appointed as the first Tang Junyuan Chair Professor at SJTU. The appointment ceremony was held at SJTU Xuhui Campus on April 21.
The goal of the scholarship is to encourage SJTU students to actively engage in international affairs activities, especially to intern at the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and other international organizations.
In 2016 winter break, more than 100 JI students participated in JI’s winter community services – “Teaching in Yunnan” and “Joint Departure.”
2016 is a milestone for JI. After a decade of striving, JI has reaped a bumper crop and laid a solid foundation for the next decade. As we embark on 2017, let us recall JI’s glorious moments in 2016.
