讲座摘要

Terahertz (THz) band, with its abundant tens of gigahertz bandwidth, is capable to support Terabit-per-second wireless communications, which is a pillar technology for six-generation (6G) and beyond systems. With sub-millimeter antennas, ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output and intelligent reflecting surface systems with thousands of array elements are exploited in THz wireless systems to effectively combat the distance limitation and blockage problems, which compose a promising THz ultra-large antenna array (ULAA) system. For the successful link establishment of THz ULAA systems, beam management (BM) and channel estimation (CE) based methods are important as two complementary categories of methods. However, fundamental challenges exist in THz ULAA BM and CE, including the requirement for efficient channel modeling and analysis, the requirement for high precision and fast speed alignment, the efficient cross far- and near-field beam alignment and high dimensional UM-MIMO and IRS CE. To overcome these challenges, a novel hybrid spherical- and planar-wave channel model, a far-field beam alignment and tracking method, a cross-field beam alignment scheme, and two CE algorithms are proposed. The proposed solutions can promote the development of THz wireless communications and 6G systems.

主讲人简介

Yuhang Chen received her B.E degree in communication engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China in 2019. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the UM-SJTU Joint Institute, supervised by Prof. Chong Han. Her current research interests include Terahertz channel estimation and beam management.
