讲座摘要

Orthoses play an important role in body rehabilitation, offering functionalities encompassing immobilization, protection, structural support, deformity correction, and pressure redistribution, and etc. The challenges in orthotic practices include inadequate consideration of interface stiffness and subjective feedback leading to multiple design iterations, excessive thickness and limited breathability, and the time-consuming and costly manufacturing process of customized orthoses. This dissertation proposed innovative methods to address these challenges, including: (1) the development of the INTERFACE system for optimizing orthotic properties through iterative adjustments based on user feedback, (2) the design and manufacturing of thinner, lighter and more breathable orthoses using composite lattices, and (3) the development of a semi-customized methodology to reduce time and cost associated with orthotic manufacturing while ensuring satisfactory fitting. The contributions of this study lie in advancing orthotic practices through innovative measurement, design, and manufacturing approaches that optimize orthotic properties, improve fabrication efficiency, and enhance fitting performance.
