Abstract

Terahertz (THz) band (0.1-10 THz) communication is envisioned as a key technology to support ultra-broadband wireless systems for sixth generation (6G) and beyond mobile communication technology. For the realization of efficient wireless THz communication networks, it is imperative to develop channel models which can accurately and efficiently characterize the Terahertz spectrum peculiarities in different scenarios. The channel models highly rely on the channel measurements and are sensitive to the data post-processing techniques, e.g., multipath components (MPC) extraction and clustering. This dissertation is dedicated to research on channel measurement, characterization, and modeling for terahertz communications. The research topics of this dissertation include methodologies of the channel measurement and modeling in the THz band, MPC clustering methods, channel modeling and characterization for indoor communications, time-varying vehicular communications, and wireless network-on-chip indoor communications at THz frequencie.

Biography

Yi Chen received a B.E. degree in electronic and information engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2017. Since 2017, he has been working toward a Ph.D. degree with Terahertz Wireless Communication Laboratory, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. His research interests include Terahertz band networks, wireless network-on-chip, channel measurements, and channel modeling.
