Abstract

Polymer composite electrolytes (PCEs) are considered as one of the promising material solutions to meet demands of future energy storage devices because of their desired properties such as safety, mechanical properties, and chemical tunability. However, their applications are impeded by low ionic conductivity at room temperature (~10^-6 S/cm). For polymers with Lewis base character, ionic motion relies on segmental dynamics of the chains. Slow segmental movements lead to low diffusivity of ions and decreases conductivity. Although researchers have made lots of efforts to accelerate segmental movements, the attempts focus on the final conductivity and the mechanism of ion transport is rarely explored. Releasing the potential of PCEs requires mastering the mechanism of ion transport in such materials. Models quantitatively demonstrating ion transport through the composites are still unavailable.

Biography

Yage Huang received his B.S. degree from Chongqing University in 2016. She is currently a Ph.D. student at UM-SJTU Joint Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong  University. Her research interests focus on ion transport mechanism in polymer composite electrolytes.
