Abstract

In the past decades, we have witnessed a significant progress in a variety of fields of quantum information technologies such as quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, and quantum control.  In these applications, a fundamental task is to develop accurate estimation and identification algorithms to acquire full information of the quantum systems of interest, which is named quantum tomography. There are three typical quantum tomography tasks: quantum state tomography (QST), quantum detector tomography (QDT) and quantum process tomography (QPT).  This thesis develops algorithms and investigates optimization in QDT and QPT. We propose optimal and two-step adaptive QDT and apply regularization in QDT. For QPT, we discuss open quantum system identification and two-stage solution.
