Five undergraduate students from the University of Michigan–Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter) have been selected for the fourth cohort of the SJTU GIFT Future Scholar Program.

Ziqian Wang (freshman), Haorang Zhang (sophomore), Yijian Li (sophomore), Zhenwei Huang (junior) and Yujie Shao (junior) were recruited by the prestigious program following a competitive selection process and final defense presentations.

The GIFT Future Scholar Program was launched by the SJTU Global Institute of Future Technology and is open to undergraduates across SJTU. The program is designed to cultivate student leaders and budding researchers by providing early exposure to scientific research and practical experience. It aims to stimulate students’ enthusiasm for exploration, strengthen their research capabilities, and nurture future-oriented talents with academic backgrounds in next-generation energy technologies, future health technologies, and other cutting-edge fields.
