Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC) has been awarded funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for its 16 research projects, according to a recent NSFC announcement on the results of its 2025 project review.
The awards for GC include 2 Young Scientists Fund (Category B) projects, 5 Young Scientists Fund (Category C) projects, 6 General Program projects, 1 Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas), 1 Distinguished Young Scholars Fund (Overseas), and 1 International (Regional) Cooperation Project. The overall funding rate for Category C Young Scientists and General Program projects reached 39.3%.
The funded projects span four NSFC divisions—Information Sciences, Engineering and Materials Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Sciences. Research areas cover electronics and information systems, automation, semiconductor science and information devices, mechanical design and manufacturing, engineering thermophysics and energy utilization, novel materials, computational mathematics, and dynamics and control.
In recent years, GC has prioritized the advancement of scientific research by strengthening faculty development and fostering a group of young scholars and postdoctoral researchers active at the frontiers of technological innovation. The college has also enhanced its support system for NSFC applications through activities such as experience-sharing sessions, expert consultations, and pre-review of proposals, providing faculty with comprehensive guidance throughout the application process.
Looking ahead, GC will continue to focus on forward-looking and fundamental research, promote interdisciplinary integration, and pursue original and breakthrough scientific outcomes.
