Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC) officially launched its Advanced Interdisciplinary Energy Research Center at an inauguration ceremony held on November 21 at Long Bin Building.

In his opening remarks, Dean Hesheng Wang emphasized that establishing interdisciplinary research centers is a key strategic initiative to strengthen high-level scientific research at GC. He noted that the new center will enhance collaboration among research teams, foster synergistic innovation, and serve as a strong complement to the college’s existing independent Principal Investigator (PI) research model. GC will provide full support for the center’s development, including student enrollment quotas, laboratory space, and start-up funding, he added.

According to Professor Mo-Yuen Chow, the newly appointed Center Director, the energy research center will leverage GC’s strengths in international education and multidisciplinary integration to encourage academic innovation and support the growth of young faculty and students. The center will organize regular academic exchange activities, attract high-quality academic resources, advance international research collaborations, and explore partnerships with industry, aiming to build a platform with global academic impact.

During the ceremony, faculty and research group representatives outlined the core research directions of their respective teams. In the following poster session featuring recent GC research progress, faculty and students engaged in discussion on future collaboration and joint research opportunities.
