Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global College (SJTUGC, abbreviated as GC) held its 2025 Thank You Day event on November 29 at the Long Bin Building, honoring students who received fall semester scholarships and expressing appreciation to people from all walks of life who have long supported the college’s development.

In his welcome remarks, GC Dean Hesheng Wang noted that the care and support from all walks of life has been a driving force behind the college’s progress. Over nearly two decades of innovation and dedication, the college has become a pioneer of higher education reform in China and a model for Sino-foreign cooperative education. He reaffirmed the college’s commitment to its core philosophy of Internationalization, Interdisciplinarity, Innovation, and Quality, aiming to integrate the strengths of Chinese and Western education systems, advance global cooperation, and build a new paradigm of international education rooted in China. The college will continue to deepen educational reform, promote innovation, and strive to become a stronghold of educational openness, a cradle for technological and cultural integration, and a forefront base for cultivating future talent.

To express appreciation to donors, the event featured a specially produced AI-powered video presenting the growth stories of more than ten GC alumni around the world who have benefited from scholarship support. Donor representatives John Wu, Yudong Chen, and Jane Sun delivered speeches centered on global vision, technological innovation, and diverse development.

John Wu noted that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the John Wu and Jane Sun Endowment Fund. He expressed his delight at the college’s progress and alumni achievements, and encouraged SJTUGC to further expand partnerships with universities worldwide. He also expressed hope that the college would continue helping Chinese students broaden their global perspective while attracting more international students to China.

Yudong Chen encouraged students to learn from outstanding alumni, explore new fields, establish new ventures, and contribute to future talent development.

Jane Sun commended the college’s continued advancement amid a complex international landscape. She encouraged the college to embrace new opportunities and urged students to stay globally minded, step beyond their comfort zones, and grow into truly international talents.

He hopes the college will continue to explore new opportunities in response to global changes and technological advancements and move toward an even brighter future.
