Abstract

Spray cooling, which is regarded as one of the most promising thermal management techniques, can realize fast and uniform heat dissipation and fulfill cooling requirements in many important applications in industry and scientific fields. This dissertation aims to propose the concept of flat nozzle sweeping spray cooling and to develop experimental and simulation methods for studying the entire process from spray atomization to impingement and film evaporation to reveal the cooling enhancement mechanism of sweeping spray. A cross-temporal scales investigation methodology is implemented in this work to systematically study the complex spray cooling phenomenon.
