On July 20, Forbes China, the Chinese edition of Forbes, unveiled its 2017 list of “30 Under 30 China,” the list of 300 top innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders under age 30. The University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) alumnus Hai Huang, 28, co-founder and CEO of Asset Pro is one of the honorees in the category of Finance & Venture Capital. Following Shaolong Sui who was selected in the 2016 “30 Under 30 Asia” list of business leaders, another JI alumnus is recognized internationally.

The “30 Under 30 China” list includes 30 nominees under the age of 30 for each of the ten categories including consumer technology; enterprise technology; entertainment and sports; the arts; finance and venture capital; industry, manufacturing and energy; healthcare and science; social entrepreneurs and education; media, marketing and advertising; and retail and e-commerce. Other Chinese on the lists include Dai Wei, founder of bicycle-sharing company ofo; two 17-year-old singers of the band TFBOYS; and celebrity athletes and renowned professors.

As a young leader in the field of finance and investment, Hai Huang has led his company to achieve more than 1.7 billion yuan of sales in the overseas asset, with branches in 13 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu and others. On being selected in the list, Hai Huang said, “to win this honor before 30, I am very happy and humbled. Since founding my company three years ago, I have been walking on thin ice, but I have come through step by step with my self-discipline, good learning habits, work ethics and a tireless pursuit of my ideal, which I had learned from excellent teachers and classmates during my JI years. They had inspired me a sense of social responsibility for the world.”

Introduction

Hai Huang entered JI in 2007 to major in electronics and computer science. In 2009, he participated in the JI-UM dual degree program and majored in financial mathematics at UM. After obtaining a master’s degree in financial engineering from Cornell University, he worked for Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley Sales and Trading, where he was the manager of the stock derivatives group. Now he is the co-founder and CEO of Asset Pro.
