Siemens Corporate Technology China: Innovation That Adapts to the Trend

The group also visited Siemens Corporate Technology China and was received by their HR and Marketing Divisions.

Visiting the Exhibition Hall at Siemens

Dr. Xiaodong Deng, a SJTU alumnus, led the tour of Siemens’ Automation Hall, from which students learned the company’s comprehensive solution to energy transfer. He remarked that Siemens’ advanced research is the driving force behind the company’s cutting edge in the industry.

At the Siemens Corporate Technology China

Mr. Fang Tan, Marketing Director, explained Siemens’ business model: “Adapting to the Trend; Innovating with Chinese Characteristics.” Siemens emphasizes research, the investment on which accounts 5.6% of the company’s gross products, to ensure its leading role in today and tomorrow’s technology. Siemens strives to transform from “Made in China” to “Invented in China.”

The HR director introduced the training program at Siemens Corporate Technology China, with 50%-60% of the trainees being Ph.D. students. JI students were excited by Siemens’ thirst for highly qualified professionals and were motivated to study for advanced degrees.

Microsoft Asian Research Center: A Cradle of Innovation

JI students learning from SJTU alumni’s experience

At Microsoft, JI students met with HR staff and SJTU alumni. Hui Yang, Microsoft’s HR Director, presented the company’s high-tech “Experience Center,” in which students were exposed to Microsoft’s state-of-the-art products and technology, as well as a preview to its future.

At Microsoft

Three SJTU alumni held a seminar with the JI students, talking about their jobs and research areas, raving about Microsoft’s flexibility, friendly work environment, and challenging assignments, and sharing some interview tips: Microsoft tests not only the applicants’ knowledge level but also their abilities to improvise and face pressure, so students should prepare themselves to be well rounded.

During the seminar, JI’s students got answers to their questions and experienced the creativity and energy of Microsoft.
