Professor Peisen Huang and Professor Xudong Wang of the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter) have been listed as Highly Cited Chinese Researchers 2022 by Elsevier, a Netherlands-based academic publishing company and a global leader in information and analytics.

Peisen Huang is a tenured mechanic engineering professor at JI specializing in the research of optical sensing and measurement, machine vision, and mechatronics. Xudong Wang is a tenured information and communication engineering professor with research interests focusing on next generation wireless networks, smart connected systems, machine learning and big data.

A total of 5,216 people from 504 higher education institutions were put on the Elsevier list covering 84 first-class disciplines in 10 discipline fields stipulated by China’s Ministry of Education. The 2022 list released on March 28 uses Scopus, the world’s authoritative citation and index database, as the statistical source of Chinese scholars’ scientific research achievements, and adopts the method developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy to analyze the performance of Chinese scholars’ scientific research achievements. Since it was launched in 2015, the list has been released on annual basis.
