The 2017 University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) Undergraduate Graduation Show was held at SJTU on the evening of July 20. JI Party Secretary Xinwan LI, Associate Dean Chian-Pin Chen, faculty and staff representatives and graduating seniors gathered together to spend an unforgettable evening.

At the show, Qing Liu and Yanqi Wang sang “the initial dream,” bringing back fond memories of four years ago. Yuchen Lu’s magic show added a cheerful atmosphere. Jinglei Chen and Zhuran Han, anchors of JI NewNetwork, presented a humorous sketch of the graduates’ fleeting four years at JI. Jiawei Zhang’s singing of “Big Event in a Little Town” ignited students’ enthusiasm. The passionate hip-hop dance of “Youth+Don’t Wanna Cry” brought the show to a climax.

Subsequently, Professor Chian-Pin Chen and the JI Chamber Orchestra played the graduate song “Sakura Rain,” depicting the bittersweet phase of the youth and the miracle for the classmates to meet among thousands of colleges. Then the popular JI Quiz roused laughter with questions such as “Hamade’s favorite sport” and “MK’s full name.”

After that, Yao Li, Class of 2013 and current JI political education instructor, delivered an emotional farewell speech: “To depart is to meet in the better future. I believe we will meet in a better tomorrow.”

The curtain of the show is drawn down after the melancholic chorus of “What if we had never met.” The rich colorful program showed the graduates’ gratitude to teachers and best wishes to their classmates.
