Nano Materials and Devices Laboratory
Our research focuses on semiconductor nanomaterials (such as silicon quantum dots) and their energy or biomedical related applications. We synthesize the nanomaterials by using both top-down and bottom-up approaches. Based on their unique optical or photochemical properties, we explore their niche applications. On the energy side, we take advantage of high quantum efficiency photoluminescence to improve the utilization efficiency of solar energy. On the biomedical side, we are particularly interested in multimodal imaging technologies and photodynamic/photothermal therapies which can potentially improve the diagnostics and treatment of cancers.
