JI Student Union

The Student Union of UM-SJTU JI is the largest student organization for undergraduate students. Its duties involve organizing and managing activities in various aspects, and the cause to ensure the rights and interests of JI students. It’s composed of a presidium and nine departments. They are Organization Department, Liaison Department, Technology department, Sports Department, Career Department, Art & Entertainment Department, Publicity Department, Media Department and Club Department.

JI Youth Volunteer Team

Miyuan Youth Volunteer Team, taken from the homonym of “JI Youth Team”, is the abbreviation of the Youth Volunteer Team of UM-SJTU Joint Institute. Miyuan Youth Volunteer Team is active in various activities inside and outside the school, and have regular activities such as “Rongjun Yuan – serving veterans”, “Sunshine Disabled Home”, and other special activities like volunteering teaching in Yunnan, which has a history of 13 years.

The team has offered JI students plentiful opportunities for volunteering. The Youth Volunteer Team consists of three departments: the organization & liaison department, the news & publicity department and the human resources department. The three departments are mainly responsible for the planning and organizing activities, the publicity activities and achievements display, team building and recruitment affairs. Current Team leaders are Shensong Zhao, Anna Li, Yangqin Yan and Haoyang Zhang.

In order to cultivate young students’ responsibility of “Community of Human Destiny” and the feelings of their homeland, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture People’s Government of Yunnan jointly hosted the “Dali Ecologic & Economic Development Creative Challenge Camp”. By soliciting ideas for the development of Dali, combined with the environmental protection of the Erhai Lake, advise on the development of ecological agriculture in Dali will be given.

The Yunnan Supporting Teaching Group of Shanghai Jiaotong University Joint Institute will travel to the colorful clouds of southwestern China to help and warm the children there every winter. The Yunnan Supporting Teaching Group is composed of more than 40 students from all grades of Joint Institute, and has carried out more than 20 days of teaching support activities.

The students listened carefully to the librarians’ explanation of the history of Hunan embroidery and the products of the venue. During the explanation, the students showed a positive attitude and a strong interest in Xiangxiu. Various questions were raised, so that everyone can have a deeper understanding of the survey objects of this social practice.

Joint Institute “Warm Sun” Practice Group

The picture was taken on the afternoon of September 5. The members of the practice group in the picture are patiently explaining the folding method of the carton and the thousand paper cranes. The students were also very active, listening to the explanations, and folding them up carefully.
