In October, JI sophomore Yilun Cao’s photographic work “Youth Dancing” won the second prize in the photography contest themed “Youth@me” sponsored by Shanghai Economy & Information Work Committee and Shanghai Committee of the CommunistYouthLeague.

The 2012 SJTU Faculty and Staff Athletics Game was held on November 1-2, 2012. JI’s group gymnastics was executed with unity and precision, the fruit of their labor in the past 2 months.

The US Winter program will start from Jan 22 to Feb 06, 2013 and would be including university visits ( to University of Michigan, University of Maryland and universities in Los Angeles ) and short excursions to the famous spots around those areas.

The annual JI Smart Car Contest kicked off at the VG 100 Lab on October 26. Eighty-eight freshmen from 18 teams participated in this highly anticipated race, which was overseen by Prof. Peisen Huang and also attended by many enthusiastic parents.

On October 26, a high-level delegation from Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium, visited JI. They met with SJTU’s Liang Guo, JI’s Prof. Robert Parker, Executive Dean, Pam Byrnes, Executive Director, Kwee-Yan Teh and Viva Du of the International Program Office.

On October 12, 2012，the plaque unveiling ceremony for the GE-SJTU Collaborative Research Laboratory was held at GE China Technology Center in the Pudong New District.

The results of 2012 National College Mathematical Contest in Modeling, Shanghai Division, were announced recently. The JI team consisting of Zhou Xintao, a junior, Luo Jiaxi, and Zhu Ruihao, both sophomores, won the first prize.

This fall semester marks the third year of the JI graduate school. For the first time, a welcome party organized by the Graduate Student Union was held in Guangbiao Building on September 28.
