Four JI Professors Funded by Pujiang Talent Program

JI faculty members, Assistant Professors Huan Qi, Wenjie Wan, Jigang Wu, and Associate Professor Qiang Zhang, have been awarded research funding by the 2012 Shanghai Pujiang Talent Program, which was co-founded by the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM) and Shanghai Human Resource Bureau to attract overseas talents to teach, do research, or start enterprises in Shanghai.

Among this year’s graduates, 81% are going abroad for graduate studies, half of which have been admitted to University of Michigan, and the majority of the rest were admitted to top US universities such as MIT, Stanford, Columbia, UCLA, Georgia Tech. JI 2012 Summer Design Expo Rocks amidst Typhoon Haikui

JI’s Capstone Design is a senior project that is completely different from the traditional thesis-based senior project prevalent in the engineering schools in China. In JI, under the supervision of a team of instructors, a group of four or five senior students from Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) work together on one project. Students are required to write a group report as well as individual reports in English and finally present in the English oral defense.
