Graduate Programs

Fall 2026 SJTU Global College Graduate Admission has been officially launched from October 15th, 2025. Master and Ph.D programs in the field of Control Science and Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Information and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, with abundant scholarships are offered to international students. Duration of study for the master programs is 2.5 years (Full-time); for the doctorial programs is 4 years (Full-time).

Application Method: Applicants must log in to http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn, truthfully and completely fill in the application information, upload the corresponding application materials, and then submit to complete the application process.

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY

* Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens with a valid private ordinary passport.

Note: Whether an applicant who holds foreign nationality also possesses the nationality of the People’s Republic of China shall be determined by the nationality appraisal issued by the Exit and Entry Administration of the Chinese public-security authorities. If an applicant is determined to hold Chinese nationality or is otherwise ineligible at any point during the application, admission, or enrollment process, their application, offer of admission, or student status will be revoked.

* Applicants should be in good physical and mental health, and meet the medical examination requirements of both the country and the university. Applicants should not have criminal record and maintain a friendly attitude towards China. Furthermore, applicants must be well-behaved and willing to comply with Chinese laws and regulations, as well as the rules of SJTU.

Master’s degree program applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree (or above) accepted in China. Doctoral degree program applicants should have a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree (or above) accepted in China. Certain schools/departments accept Bachelor’s degree holders for direct entry into doctoral programs. For specific qualifications and requirements, please refer to the program admission information of the respective schools.

* Language Requirements

All international applicants for admission to any SJTU program must provide evidence that their English language proficiency meets the minimum requirements for admission.

Being born in a native English-speaking country is not a proof of your English proficiency. You will be deemed to have satisfied the English language requirements if you can provide evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:

  1. English Language Tests
  2. Prior study in the medium of English

a)  English Language Tests

SJTU recognizes a number of English Language tests and English Preparation Courses which can be undertaken to meet the University’s English language requirements. These are set out in the following table, together with the minimum results required.

The test/score must be valid till the year of application. For example, the TOEFL must have been undertaken no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at SJTU, i.e., the test must be dated on or after 1 January (two years prior) for Fall Semester intake.

b) Prior study in the medium of English

If you have successfully completed an assessable Senior Secondary qualification or a post-secondary/tertiary study at an accredited university from an English-speaking country * you do not have to prove proficiency in English provided the qualification was:

  1. Taught and examined in English
  2. Completed no more than two years prior to the commencement of the program at
  3. The statement or certificate must be on official headed paper, and must be the original document.

    * English-speaking countries recognized by SJTU international graduate programs include: American Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Canada, Fiji, Gibraltar, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, The Gambia, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
