Credits: 3 credits
Pre-requisites: MATH2160J/256/286
Description:
This is a survey of the basic numerical methods that are used to solve scientific and engineering problems. The emphasis is evenly divided between the analysis of the methods and their practical applications. Some convergence theorems and error bounds are proved.
Course Topics:
Root finding algorithms, Optimisation, Linear system, LU, Orthogonalisation, Eigenvalue problem, SVD, IVP, BVP, Orthogonal Polynomials, Quadrature.
