This course aims to enhance students’ awareness and understanding of China’s traditional culture broadly, in a musical way. Students will be introduced to general topics related to traditional Chinese music and intercultural musical practices. The course is structured to meet its goals by combining classroom lectures and activities, interaction with Chinese music performance, and listening to classical music pieces.

2. Multiply notations of Chinese traditional music.
3. Musical Performance in the Ritual and Secular Life of China.
4. Chinese music in the background of globalization and modernization.
5. Music and its context of Chinese ethnic minorities.
