Description:

In this project-based course you will be given agency to initiate a team and dream project, researching or evaluating the well-being of your community. There will be two tracks available for you to choose from based on your academic and professional interests: either (1) research project (more academically applicable) or (2) evaluation project (both academically and practically applicable). The role of the instructor will be like a mentor or consultant, supporting you in equipping yourself with necessary knowledge and skills to accomplish your own self-initiated projects (learning by doing). Specifically, you will gain the experience of conducting a literature review, designing a study, collecting data, analyzing and interpreting the results, and developing suggestions for future research (track 1: research project) and/or providing recommendations (track 2: evaluation project). If you are a student who is motivated to explore new possibilities in personal growth and expand your professional skillset (e.g., critical thinking, interdisciplinary research, evaluation, and leadership/teamwork skills), this is a course right for you.
